Today is actor Vijay's 49th birthday, and the first look poster of Leo, which has Vijay in an aggressive hunter mode, has been out. The much-anticipated confirmation of Leo's inclusion in director Lokesh's cinematic universe (LCU) was nowhere to be seen, but the poster did include a new tagline that read, "In the world of untamed rivers, calm waters either become divine gods or dreaded demons."

Leo, written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is billed as a gangster drama centered on the bond between father (Vijay) and daughter (child artiste Iyal). The premise of the film is believed to be similar to that of A History of Violence (2005), in which a former mobster, now living a calm family life, is compelled to confront his violent past.

In this film, Trisha plays the female lead, and Sanjay Dutt plays Vijay's father. A portion of Leo takes place in Kashmir, as shown in the first look poster. Leo was produced by 7 Screen Studio and features music by Anirudh, Sony Music South as the official music label, Netflix as the OTT partner, and Sun TV as the satellite partner.
